Artist Statement

Currently I am working on an autobiographical project from old photographs of my family. My parents were hippies and I grew up spending a lot of time outdoors. In many of the my childhood photographs I look very serious and seem to reflect the spacious and open natural landscapes.

I enjoyed working on this painting. The image is intertwined with one of my earliest memories of looking out over the field to the house I grew up in. There is something wistful about the way we are are both looking to the house and waiting. Time is slow in the country.

    I've been wanting to paint this painting for a couple years now. What was interesting was that in the time it took me to get to the canvas I had it all worked out in my mind. The process was very easy and flowing-it almost developed without me.
